  • A single mom with an 8 year old son living in a single bedroom home. The school counselor referred the mom to our program. The home was in very rough shape. The flooring was ruined, the plaster was falling off the walls, most of the windows broken and there was no sink in the bathroom. Rebuilding Together gutted the interior of the home down to the framing. The house has new wiring, plumbing, heating and another bedroom.
  • A single, disabled, father with an eleven year old daughter. The home needed new windows and painting. Rebuilding Together painted the exterior of the home and replaced all of the windows.
  • A married couple, in their 60’s. Both disabled and not able to make some much needed improvements to their home. Rebuilding Together painted the exterior, replaced all the windows and did some other minor home repairs.
  • An elderly couple in Laurel needed a new deck off their back door as the one they had was not safe and this was the door they used most often.

  • A married couple, in their 80’s. The wife has had two hip replacements and the husband had a triple heart bypass and recently had a knee replacement. Rebuilding Together modified the bathroom for handicap accessibility by putting in a walk-in shower with a handheld showerhead.
  • A young, widowed mom with four children needed her home to be weatherized and painted on the exterior. Rebuilding Together replaced the windows, added some extra insulation, repaired and painted the exterior of the home.
  • An elderly couple in their 80’s received replacement exterior doors.
  • A group of volunteers painted the exterior of the home of a single, low income woman in Laurel.

2007 Projects

  • A single, disabled woman with a child living at home received a new roof.
  • Volunteers spent a day doing minor home repairs and yard work for a single woman suffering from depression.
  • An elderly woman that is raising her young grandson received new windows and doors along with electrical repairs, new flooring for her kitchen. A group of volunteers did a major clean-up of the yard and painted the garage.
  • A severely disabled senior that uses a mobility cart needed her driveway repaired so that she could get from her vehicle into her house with her cart.  Rebuilding Together also installed an egress window into the bedroom for safety reasons.
  • An 84 year woman received new windows, a new front porch, painting of the outside of her home and garage. Her home had drainage problems around the foundation and a group of volunteers repaired this problem and landscaped around the entire house.
  • An elderly veteran needed part of his roof replaced as the leaking was causing major damage to the interior of his home.

Rebuilding Together is the nation’s largest volunteer organization preserving and revitalizing low-income houses and communities.
